What was the highlight of Pousada Casa Vila Bela

I would prefer another place to stay for this value.

Location was great, there are many great bars, cafes around. Staff were kind.

Breakfast was a bit sad, fruit offer was not much, juice was watery, cheese, ham had low quality and the coffee also(!), and the way it was presented was a bit worn down, (juice cover clothes hasn't been washed since ages, pastry covers were dirty etc...). Same applies for the room, it had a strange smell of some cleaning product, curtains were dusty and overall had a kind of worn down atmosphere including the energy saver cold tone lights which makes you feel rather in a hospital than a "posada with charm". Shower and bed was ok. Wifi didn't work properly in the room, had to go downstairs for a continuous connection. In overall, for this budget there are other options too which may be better, that's our conclusion.

What was the highlight of Pousada Casa Vila Bela

A disappointing welcome to Salvador

Upon arrival we were greeted by the cleaning staff, a woman who only spoke Portuguese and who asked for full payment immediately and before showing us the room or touring the facilities. This was a terrible welcome to Salvador. The owner had left a note saying she was tied up and would only be available to see us the following day. I insisted upon seeing the place before I paid any additional charges. Unfortunately, we were disappointed by the Pousada - the cleanliness, the overall comfort, service and vibe. Holidays are precious and we decided to stay elsewhere. We informed the owner by phone, haggled over remaining charges, and were then locked in the steaming hot pousada by the cleaning lady who had no change on hand and had to go in search of cash. If you're going to demand payment by cash only, you should very well have change on hand. The entire experience was disturbing and exhausting. Fortunately, we were able to find much better lodging nearby. Also, while not the fault of the Pousada, it must be said that the "ocean view" is really of an industrial port. Certainly not worth paying extra for. The neighbourhood does indeed feel sketchy, but we ended up at an amazing hotel nearby (Aram Yami - if you can spend the extra cash, stay there!!! They know hospitality) and felt safe enough in Santo Antonio and would not discourage others from staying.

We stayed in a lovely room with old-style furniture, named...

We stayed in a lovely room with old-style furniture, named Colonial, which was spacious and air-conditioned (I especially liked the ceiling fan). We liked to sit on the balcony and enjoy the view of the bay, also during breakfast. Pousada is greatly located, the street is colourful and lively.

The internet connection was slow.

Nice location but staff not welcoming and overpriced for basic confort

Good location in Pelourinho and nice view of the bay if you get a back

Staff very rude and not welcoming, surprising for Brazil and Bahia in particular which I know very well and where people are so friendly. Noisy, you hear any noise from the street even in a room facing the sea. Overpriced for what you get, and also overrated in booking and other apps, you can get much better in Salvador for cheaper too.

The location is perfect, right in the middle of the old city...

The location is perfect, right in the middle of the old city and near to all places to see! The property itself is very nice and gives a unique experience of the erstwhile colonial era and is a better option instead of staying at regular hotels.

The wifi didnt work during the 2 days we stayed there!

Perfect hotel in the center of the old town of Salvador

Very good breakfast; lots of restaurants, bars and cafes nearby; very good location in the centre of the old town; staff very helpful and friendly, the owner speaks lots of languages (english, Spanish, french, portuguese); room was perfect clean and with a beautiful view over the town and the harbor

WiFi is very slow in the room and also in the common areas

What was the highlight of Pousada Casa Vila Bela

Colonial comfortin the historic district.

Excellent view over the harbor and industrial area, and the large bay. Breakfast was excellent, with really good coffee and tea. Short cobblestone walks to the center of the historic district; this pousada is on the north side.

WiFi was being upgraded so coverage was sporadic and weak. Assume it is fixed by now. The day staff did not speak English, though the owner Gerusa spoke it very well. The was helpful to us elderly Americans.

We loved our stay at this Pousada, the owners and staff are all lovely and very happy to help & suggest places to visit. A short walk into the historic Pelourinho district, even with the steep hills, but also excellent cafes and restaurants on the same street (Poro and Cafeliere in particular).
