What was the highlight of Pousada Casa Vila Bela

I would prefer another place to stay for this value.

Location was great, there are many great bars, cafes around. Staff were kind.

Breakfast was a bit sad, fruit offer was not much, juice was watery, cheese, ham had low quality and the coffee also(!), and the way it was presented was a bit worn down, (juice cover clothes hasn't been washed since ages, pastry covers were dirty etc...). Same applies for the room, it had a strange smell of some cleaning product, curtains were dusty and overall had a kind of worn down atmosphere including the energy saver cold tone lights which makes you feel rather in a hospital than a "posada with charm". Shower and bed was ok. Wifi didn't work properly in the room, had to go downstairs for a continuous connection. In overall, for this budget there are other options too which may be better, that's our conclusion.

What was the highlight of Pousada Casa Vila Bela

A disappointing welcome to Salvador

Upon arrival we were greeted by the cleaning staff, a woman who only spoke Portuguese and who asked for full payment immediately and before showing us the room or touring the facilities. This was a terrible welcome to Salvador. The owner had left a note saying she was tied up and would only be available to see us the following day. I insisted upon seeing the place before I paid any additional charges. Unfortunately, we were disappointed by the Pousada - the cleanliness, the overall comfort, service and vibe. Holidays are precious and we decided to stay elsewhere. We informed the owner by phone, haggled over remaining charges, and were then locked in the steaming hot pousada by the cleaning lady who had no change on hand and had to go in search of cash. If you're going to demand payment by cash only, you should very well have change on hand. The entire experience was disturbing and exhausting. Fortunately, we were able to find much better lodging nearby. Also, while not the fault of the Pousada, it must be said that the "ocean view" is really of an industrial port. Certainly not worth paying extra for. The neighbourhood does indeed feel sketchy, but we ended up at an amazing hotel nearby (Aram Yami - if you can spend the extra cash, stay there!!! They know hospitality) and felt safe enough in Santo Antonio and would not discourage others from staying.

We stayed in a lovely room with old-style furniture, named...

We stayed in a lovely room with old-style furniture, named Colonial, which was spacious and air-conditioned (I especially liked the ceiling fan). We liked to sit on the balcony and enjoy the view of the bay, also during breakfast. Pousada is greatly located, the street is colourful and lively.

The internet connection was slow.

Nice location but staff not welcoming and overpriced for basic confort

Good location in Pelourinho and nice view of the bay if you get a back

Staff very rude and not welcoming, surprising for Brazil and Bahia in particular which I know very well and where people are so friendly. Noisy, you hear any noise from the street even in a room facing the sea. Overpriced for what you get, and also overrated in booking and other apps, you can get much better in Salvador for cheaper too.

The location is perfect, right in the middle of the old city...

The location is perfect, right in the middle of the old city and near to all places to see! The property itself is very nice and gives a unique experience of the erstwhile colonial era and is a better option instead of staying at regular hotels.

The wifi didnt work during the 2 days we stayed there!

Perfect hotel in the center of the old town of Salvador

Very good breakfast; lots of restaurants, bars and cafes nearby; very good location in the centre of the old town; staff very helpful and friendly, the owner speaks lots of languages (english, Spanish, french, portuguese); room was perfect clean and with a beautiful view over the town and the harbor

WiFi is very slow in the room and also in the common areas

Colonial comfortin the historic district.

Excellent view over the harbor and industrial area, and the large bay. Breakfast was excellent, with really good coffee and tea. Short cobblestone walks to the center of the historic district; this pousada is on the north side.

WiFi was being upgraded so coverage was sporadic and weak. Assume it is fixed by now. The day staff did not speak English, though the owner Gerusa spoke it very well. The was helpful to us elderly Americans.

We loved our stay at this Pousada, the owners and staff are all lovely and very happy to help & suggest places to visit. A short walk into the historic Pelourinho district, even with the steep hills, but also excellent cafes and restaurants on the same street (Poro and Cafeliere in particular).

„Gute Unterkunft in der historischen Altstadt

Gute Lage mit vielen Restaurants in der Nähe. Aircon war im Zimmer, welche dringend nötig ist, da das Zimmer nach Westen liegt und die Sonne das Zimmer sehr aufheizt. Airport Service hat sehr gut geklappt.

Frühstück war ok, mehr nicht.

Das Hotel war liebevoll eingerichtet, das Zimmer war individuell gestaltet. Der Blick vom Balkon grandios !!! Die Lage: in der Altstadt, etwas entfernt vom Touristenrummel. Super !

Der Bezahl-Modus - leider stand in der Ausschreibung nicht, dass man die Anzahlung per Überweisung nach Frankreich vorab vornehmen muss. Dies erfuhr man erst per mail relativ spät. Wir telefonierten 2x mit Booking com und hatten verschiedene Male email-Kontakt. Den Rest musste man bar bezahlen, da kein Kartenlesegerät im Hotel. Unerfreulich umständlich das Ganze.

„Eine sehr schöne und liebevoll ausgestattete Pousada in Santo Antonio. Gerne wieder!

Wenige Gehminuten außerhalb vom touristischen Pelourinho und damit ruhig gelegen. Sehr gepflegt und liebevoll eingerichtet. Gerusa steht immer gern mit Rat und Tat zur Seite.

„Die weibliche Mitarbeiterin hat sich Mühe gegeben und mir...

Die weibliche Mitarbeiterin hat sich Mühe gegeben und mir infolge des nicht funktionierenden WLANs ihrHandy zum Telefonieren angeboten.

Schrecklicher Gestank im Zimmer und mangelnde Hygiene sowohl im Zimmer als auch beim Frühstück. Das mit Abstand schlechteste Frühstück nach ca. 50 verschiedenen Pousadas bzw. 6 Aufenhalten in Brasilien. Der Mitarbeiter beim Empfang war völlig inkompetent und konnte trotz Verharren auf sofortige Bargeldzahlung kein Wechselgeld anbieten. Das Wechselgeld war erst am nächsten Tag verfügbar. Als ich in das Zimmer zurück kam, stand eine Rauchwolke im Raum. Vermutlich hat man versucht den schimmeligen Geruch zu "beheben". Letztlich hat ALLES (inklusiv meiner Kleider) verraucht bzw. nach verbrannten Holz gerochen. Die Mitarbeiterin sagte, dass die Dona diese Vorgehensweise jeden Tag praktiziert. Untragbar!Bin daraufhin sofort abgereist!!!

„Nette Pousada in der Altstadt

Nette Pousada direkt in der Altstadt, fußläufig zum Hauptplatz und allen Sehenswürdigkeiten. Nette Besitzerin, die sich sehr auch um unser Gepäck bei der Fluggesellschaft gekümmert hat. Auch das übrige Personal war sehr freundlich. Gutes Frühstück mit Blick aufs Meer. Nettes kleines Zimmer mit Aussicht auf den Hafen, allerdings nachts durch be-und entladen der Schiffe laut. Es gibt in der Nähe auch mehrere kleine Restaurants und Kneipen.

Kleines hartes Bett. Haben für unseren Weiterflug nachts vorab ein Taxi in der Pousada bestellt und bezahlt. Leider kam kein Wagen und wir haben um ein Haar unseren Weiterflug und damit alle weiteren Buchungen verpasst. Das war unnötiger Stress und hätte um ein Haar sehr hohe Kosten verursacht. Der Nachtwächter der Pousada hat sich nachts um ein Taxi auf der Strasse bemüht, es gab keins. Zufällig und in letzter Minute kam ein Taxi um die Ecke, haben dafür dann den 3fachen Preis bezahlt. Nun warten wir auf die Erstattung der bezahlten Taxikosten in der Pousada. Nie wieder würden wir vorab ein Taxi bezahlen, lieber selber eins besorgen.

„Sehr gute Wahl

Schönes Gebäude mit super Lage. Sehr nettes, hilfsbereites Personal, tolles Frühstück.

Wir hatten ein Zimmer ohne Klimaanlage und nur mit Fenster zum Treppenhaus. Daher war es etwas stickig. Das Internet ging bei uns auch nur in der Lobby.

Die Lage!

Die Chefin hatte ein sehr unangebrachtes Benehmen und ausserdem wurde uns das elf Monatige Baby als ganzes verrechnet auch das zusatz Bett des Babys wurde noch dazu gerechnet. Wir wurden abegezockt von A bis Z. Viel zu teuer und nicht weiter zu empfehlen. Zum Schluss noch: die Chefin war wirklich sehr frech am schluss als wir dies nicht akzeptieren wollten.

„Es war der beste Ort für uns in Salvador.

Es war der beste Ort für uns in Salvador. Die Pousada ist mit viel Liebe zum Detail eines unserer Lieblingshotels geworden. Nicht nur weil alle sehr hilfsbereit und zuvorkommend waren, sondern weil das Hotel mitten im historischen Stadtkern gelegen ist und die Besitzerin (die 7 Sprachen spricht) alles tut, damit man sich am anderen Ende der Welt wie zuhause fühlt.
